DVS is an American company providing durable footwear and functional/stylish clothing for both board sports and fashion. DVS has become a well known brand in the skate and snowboarding world. Offering good quality footwear that is tried and tested by leading professional boarders. Many celebrity skate and snow boarding stars stand by, and continue to promote and use DVS shoes for there lifestyle careers.
Founded over 25 years ago, a gentleman called Tim Gavin was heavily involved in the skating world. Brothers Brian and Kevin Dunlap approached Tim and in casual conversation mentioned they would love to start up a skate shoe company. Tim immediately embraced this idea and said he could definitely help.
With Tim's skateboarding involvement, and the Dunlap's finances, DVS Shoes was born. Almost immediately DVS signed up its first celebrity skateboarder 'Daewon Song' who represented the brand until 2016.
The brand grew year on year and created a fantastic fan base that was respected among the sporting community. Unfortunately, in 2012, DVS had to file bankruptcy due to the increasing costs of manufacture in China, and the general drop in retail sales during the financial crisis of 2007-2008.
All was not lost, and DVS was saved by the 'Sequential Brands Group' and resumed operation signing new sponsorship's across the pro skateboarding and motocross sectors. Tim left the company following the bankruptcy and established 2 new companies. One called Filament, which was a footwear company with Nike skateboarding and DC shoe designer Bryon Schroeder leading the projects. The other company unrelated to footwear and is called Knoc Hardware Mfg Inc.
DVS and its sponsorship portfolio continued to grow and grow and in 2013 launched a new website with an online store for direct to consumer purchases.
DVS featured in numerous magazines articles and reviews, and was continuously praised for its innovative technology and designs. For instance, a review on the Vaporcell technology heavily praised DVS Shoes for there durability, board feel and comfort.
Today, DVS continues to be a staple brand among the skating communities, and features in numerous skate magazines being worn by skate celebrities such as wee-man, Flo Mirtain and Pudwill to name only a few.
