Etnies sponsor a world class team of adrenaline junkies including skateboarders, BMXer’s, surfers, snowboarders and moto-X riders and work hard to protect the planet that acts as their playground.
Based in Lake Forest, California, Etnies were one of the first global skate and alternative sport brands. The company was first formed in 1986. It was founded by Pierre André Sénizergues following the end of his career as a professional skater, Etnies are an original skater owned and operated business.
The business has stayed true to their roots and along with dramatically changing the face of skateboard shoes and trainers with their technological advances, they sponsor a world class team of alternative athletes comprised of skateboarders, BMXer’s, surfers, snowboarders and moto-X riders. Etnies have also maintained their ethical values and remained dedicated to helping support their environment and local communities.
One previous community project included the giving out of free footwear to the homeless in L.A during the Easter period. This was a well-received campaign and gained support from the Etnies team riders, general staff, celebrities and the city’s mayor in 2012, Antonio Villaraigosa. More recently Etnies launched a campaign called “Buy a shoe, Plant a tree”. Currently operating in both Brazil and Costa Rica, they have planted over 1.7 million trees since the campaign began. Etnies doesn’t plan on stopping here though, they remain committed to planting in areas of the world desperately in need of help and are always looking for ways to reduce their impact on the planet.
Etnies continue to grow and produce iconic styles that offer comfort and support both on and off the board. Whether your looking for a low top skate shoe or a casual trainer, Etnies offers something for everyone and caters for people of all ages.
