Sprayway's Journey: From a Launderette to Leader Status

Founded in 1974 above a launderette in Chorlton, Greater Manchester, Sprayway began its story by producing functional and affordable cagoules for the sailing market. With innovation and dedication, the brand grew into a leader in outdoor clothing and footwear.

Sprayway was founded by two young entrepreneurs, John and Simon, whose complementary skills laid the foundation for the brand. John, a product and marketing expert, introduced the ‘Function First’ model, which emphasized great fit, functional features, and quality fabrics. Simon, a master of operations, revolutionized customer service by introducing next-day shipping—an unheard-of practice in the 1990s.

In 2016, Sprayway was awarded 'Leader Status' by the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), recognizing its commitment to fair working conditions. Sprayway has been a member of FWF since 2012 and adheres to its strict 8-point Labor Code, which includes principles like living wages, safe working conditions, and child labor prevention.

The brand also stands out for its dedication to sustainability. Sprayway ensures its products are free from harmful chemicals and takes responsibility for protecting the environment and the individuals using its products. This commitment to quality, ethics, and the environment is a hallmark of the brand.

Through decades of innovation and adherence to high standards, Sprayway has become a trusted name in outdoor gear. These principles continue to shape its identity and inspire its future.
